Interest groups seek to influence politics at any number of levels within the American political system and political systems around the world. Interest groups usually seek to influence politics by supporting campaigns to influence local politicians decision making or directly by working to elect or defeat politicians by funding political election campaigns. In addition interest groups also seek to influence the way that laws and policies are written and enforced by lobbying or attempting to convince politicians that they have good ideas usually with potential future election support if the politician will support policies supported by the interest group.
