According to Nalini Nadkarni's 'Life science in prison' violent criminals deserve to be in more serene envionment. If they are kept in inhumane conditions, that might further reinforce their violence and it is not helpful in their treatement.  The prisons would become less violent and more of a place for repent and improvement. Violent prisioners are a danger to the guards and others and their violence shows the lack of the improvement.
