Individuals who end up in role confusion regularly feel disappointed and sort of drift starting with one thing then onto the next. They may experience difficulty making sense of what they need from life or relationships.  

But most importantly, individuals in role confusion don't create loyalty, which Erikson characterized as having the capacity to identify with individuals in a true, real manner. Great connections have a solid establishment of loyalty.
