To state the goals of the party and its position on issues is the purpose of a political party´s platform. The platform (a series of statements expressing the party's principles/beliefs and positions on election issues) communicates to voters what the party claims it will do if it wins. A political party is a group of individuals with broad common interests (who organize to nominate candidates for office, win elections, and conduct government).

Party´s platforms serve an important role in politics because they’re useful for persuading voters and because they help party organizations build election-winning coalitions.

A political party’s platform is a program or a set of principle goals which the political party supports or an individual candidate. They appeal to the public and talk about the complicated issues. The other term used for the components of political platform is “Plank”. It has originated when debates were held in public platform. It is also referred to as manifesto. In western countries like U.S.A. parties fulfil their promises which they do in elections.

It was first used in 1535. The literal meaning of party’s platform is statement of party in politics. It is a platform on which leaders make their appeals to public. In 2017, there was a study done in “American Journal of Political Science” which found that 12 countries have political parties in government which have fulfilled their election promises to their voters. These 12 countries are: United States, United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Canada, Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands.

There was also other research on United States which suggested that Democratic Party and Republic Party voted in line with their party’s platform 74% for Democratic Party and 89% for Republican Party.
