This theory is in the form of a circular structure where value and motivation are inter-related. Some of the values are power and benevolence which are generally in conflict with each other. Universalism includes an understanding of the welfare of people. Benevolence is the preservation and enhancement of the welfare of people. Self-enhancement includes three goals: Power, Hedonism, Achievement.
