How do today's psychodynamic theories differ from freud's original psychodynamic approach to psychology?

In the study of psychology, a psychodynamic theory is a view that clarifies personality as far as conscious and unconscious powers, for example, oblivious wants and convictions. Psychodynamic theories generally hold that youth encounters shape identity.
