What was your most vivid memory of marco polo's travels, and why is it important to history?

Marco Polo was one of the first European travelers who reached Asia.
His twenty four year journey to China and Mongolia, and seventeen year stay in China was historical because he surpassed all the travelers before him, reaching Tibet, Burma and India in the far reaches of Asia.
