The effect would either be an increase in temperature or decrease in temperature depending on how the orbit will be adjusted to make a more rounded shape.

People are having a misconception about what to happen if the Earth's orbit has changed, when it changes and goes a route closer to the sun we will experience hotter summers.

Honestly "global warming" may be a slight possiblity, however they called it "climate change" because its not real, in fact we had one of our coldest days here not too long ago, and the "issues" with this subject is a blindfold for actual problems.
