A typical bathtub-shower combination has a tub spout near the bottom and a showerhead on top. When you activate the diverter on the tub spout, water stops flowing out the tub spout and is sent to the showerhead instead. When you activate your diverter, you measure that water flows the showerhead at a rate of 115 mL/s. The pipes that feed into spout and the showerhead both have a cross-sectional area of 1 cm2, and the showerhead pipe is 1.3 m above the tub spout pipe. What is the absolute value of the pressure difference between the two pipes?

Give your answer in units of kPa, and use g = 9.81 m/s2 and
= 1000 kg/m3.

The base of a 50-meter tower is at the origin; the base of a 50-meter tree is at (0, 50, 0). the ground is flat and the z-axis points upward. the following parametric equations describe the motion of six projectiles each launched at time t = 0 in seconds. (i) r (t) = (50 + t2)k (ii) r (t) = 2t2 j + 2t2k (iii) r (t) = 50 i + 50 j + (50 − t2)k (iv) r (t) = 2t j + (50 − t2)k (v) r (t) = (50 − 2t) i + 2t j + (50 − t)k (vi) r (t) = t i + t j + tk (a) which projectile is launched from the top of the tower and goes downward? at time t = , the projectile hits the ground at point (x, y, z) = . (b) which projectile hits the top of the tree?

Acommon technique in analysis of scientific data is normalization. the purpose of normalizing data is to eliminate irrelevant constants that can obscure the salient features of the data. the goal of this experiment is to test the hypothesis that the flux of light decreases as the square of the distance from the source. in this case, the absolute value of the voltage measured by the photometer is irrelevant; only the relative value conveys useful information. suppose that in part 2.2.2 of the experiment, students obtain a signal value of 162 mv at a distance of 4 cm and a value of 86 mv at a distance of 5.7 cm. normalize the students' data to the value obtained at 4 cm. (divide the signal value by 162.) then calculate the theoretically expected (normalized) value at 5.7 cm.
