A rhinoceros beetle rides the rim of a horizontal disk rotating counterclockwise like a merry-go-round. Assume that the disk is not being driven by an external torue, so that the motion of the beetle can affect the motion of the disk. Required:
a. If the beetle then walks along the rim in the direction of the rotation, will the magnitude of the angular momentum of the beetle-disk system (measured about the rotation axis) increase, decrease, or remain the same (the disk is still rotating in the counterclockwise direction)?
b. If the beetle then walks along the rim in the direction of the rotation, will the magnitude of the angular momentum and angular velocity of the beetle (measured about the rotation axis) increase, decrease, or remain the same (the disk is still rotating in the counterclockwise direction)?
