A solenoid (primary) with cross-sectional area, AP = 6.0 cm2, length LP = 10.0 cm and NP = 2000 turns is situated inside a second solenoid (secondary) with AS = 8.0 cm2 and NS = 6 turns. The time dependence of the current in the primary coil is iP(t) = (3.0 A/s2) t2 + 4.0 A. (Note: use the infinite length solenoid approximation.) a) Calculate the magnetic field in the primary solenoid at t = 0. (5 points)
b) Calculate the magnetic flux in the secondary coil at t = 0. (5 points)
c) Write the expression for the emf in the secondary coil as a function of time. (5 points)
d) Calculate the magnitude of the emf in the secondary coil at t = 0.20 s. (5 points)
e) Extra credit (5 points): Find the mutual inductance of this coil geometry.
