The force is the sum of all the forces that act upon an object.

In many physical situations, an object will be subject to many different forces such as gravity, friction or an external force. Finding the sum of these forces ultimately indicates if the object will move and in what direction it will move in. The sum of all forces that act upon an object is known as the net force. It can be found by simply adding individual force vectors together.
