Explanation:          

Location A receives 200cm of rain each year, while Location B receives only 30cm because in location A cloud rises, and it expands and cools down because the surrounding atmospheric pressure decreases, then the cloud gets too large and falls down as rain. Whether in location B, this land is covered by rain shadow and receives less rain.

Once the rain passes from mountain range and it moves down to the other side, warms and dries out. This produces a rain shadow. The land which is covered by rain shadow is very dry and receives less rain. Precipitation and cloud cover the land on windward side of the mountain range.
