In the figure particles 2 and 4, of charge –e, are fixed in place on a y axis, at y2 = -11.7 cm and y4 = 5.85 cm. Particles 1 and 3, of charge –e, can be moved along the x axis. Particle 5, of charge +e, is fixed at the origin. Initially particle 1 is at x1 = -11.7 cm and particle 3 is at x3 = 11.7 cm. (a) To what x value must particle 1 be moved to rotate the direction of the net electric force F net on particle 5 by 30 ˚ counterclockwise? (b) With particle 1 fixed at its new position, to what x value must you move particle 3 to rotate back to its original direction?

It's a snowy day and you're pulling a friend along a level road on a sled. you've both been taking physics, so she asks what you think the coefficient of friction between the sled and the snow is. you've been walking at a steady 1.5m/s, and the rope pulls up on the sled at a 32 ∘ angle. you estimate that the mass of the sled, with your friend on it, is 65 kg and that you're pulling with a force of 80 n .

On a frictionless air track, a blue glider with mass 0.200 kg is moving to the right with a speed of 8.00 m/s. it strikes a red glider that has mass 0.600 kg and that is initially at rest. after the collision, the blue glider is moving to the left with a speed of 3.00 m/s.(a) what are the magnitude and direction of the velocity of the red glider after the collision? (b) is this collision elastic?
