Civic Issue Choose one issue from the Speaker's Corner clips you found in Activity 2 that
you are most concerned about, or which affects you the most. Investigate the
civic issue by exploring information to be able to answer the following:
1. What is the issue? To do this, identify the topic that is of concern and
why it is of concern to the speaker. Try to summarize it in one sentence.
2. Describe the various groups of people, plants, or animals for whom this
is significant and who are most affected by the issue.
3. List four facts or statistics relating to this issue. Do you need more
information in order to understand the issue?
4. What might be some of the factors influencing this issue?
5. Based on your information above, are you able to say you have an
informed opinion on this issue?
6. What next steps would you suggest to begin to resolve this issue?
