Two friends are competing in an odd game of bowling in which the object of the game is to roll the bowling ball towards the pins and get the ball to stop as close to the pins as possible without hitting them. Shawn began with a 7 pound bowling ball and was able to come within an inch of the pins. If he is given a 14 pound bowling ball on his next turn, how should he go about modifying his method in order to come just as close? A. He should apply half of the force as he did with the lighter ball, since the heavier ball has less inertia because it has double the mass.

B. He should apply twice the force as he did with the lighter ball, since the heavier ball has more inertia because it has double the mass.

C. He should apply the same force as he did with the lighter ball, since the bowling alley will still apply the same force of friction against any ball regardless of weight.

D. He should apply the same force as he did with the lighter ball, since all objects will travel at the same rate of acceleration due to gravity regardless of weight.

Glass is transparent to visibile light under normal conditions; however, at extremely high intensities, glass will absorb most of the light incident upon it. this works through a process known as multiphoton absorption. in this process, several photons are absorbed at the same time. if very intense light whose photons carry 2ev of energy is shined onto a material with a band gap of 4ev, that light can be absorbed through two-photon absorption, because two photons have the right amount of energy to bridge the band gap. what is the minimum number of photons of 800-nm light that are needed to equal or exceed the band gap of fused silica glass
