Distance from Earth to Sun = 1 astronomical unit (AU) 
Distance from Earth to nearest star = 265,000 AU 
Distance from Earth to center of Milky Way galaxy = 1,580,000,000 AU 
Distance from Earth to next big galaxy (Andromeda) = 1000 times farther away than center of Milky Way 
Distance to farthest galaxy = 5400 times farther away than Andromeda
