Plzzz someone help me 1)Why does an object that is sliding across carpet slow down?

2)Compare an object sliding across carpet and that same object sliding across a bare floor. Why is the object quicker to slow down on carpet than on the bare floor?

1) The object slows down due to kinetic friction.

2) The coefficient of kinetic friction is higher on a carpet than on the bare floor, therefore the object would slow down quicker on the carpet
