The student develop the model above ( its really below) . usually the model, identify two potential wave phenomena that occur and are the reason behind why the student can only hear the train in front of the apartment complex.
A. the train can be heard more easily in front of the apartment complex because of reflection and interference. as the sound comes from train, the sound waves reflect off of the complex and interfere with each other increasing amplitude of the wave to make it easier.
B. the train can not be heard ad easily in the park because of reflection and diffraction. the sound reflects off of the trees in the park and diffract between the tree, this causes the waves to bend too much to be heard.
C. the train can be heard more easily in front of the apartment complex because of diffraction and refraction. the sound waves diffract between the other buildings aiming them towards the apartment complex and then the sound refracts through the apartment complex which makes it more difficult to hear in the park.
D. the train can not be heard as easily in the park because of interference and reflection. the other buildings in front of the park cause interference of the sound waves from the train and the trees in the park cause reflection making it too hard to hear the train.

Awater slide of length l has a vertical drop of h. abby's mass is m. an average friction force of magnitude f opposes her motion. she starts down the slide at initial speed vi. use work-energy ideas to develop an expression for her speed at the bottom of the slide. then evaluate your result using unit analysis and limiting case analysis. express your answer in terms of the variables h, m, l, vi, f and appropriate constants. vf v f
