I night time, the Sun will be on the opposite side of the planet that is in the night time, and the Mon will be in different positions (depending on the hour)  in the same side that the place that is in the night time.

Then in the model, if you left the Earth unchanged, you need to place the Sun bellow the Earth (So America is in the opposite side) And the moon above the Earth (So in America a person can see the moon)
