Thus the land at the windward side experiences much rain fall. The leeward side is the other side of the mountain with warm and dry air. It has low precipitation, thus the land on that side experiences little or no rain thereby turning into a desert.

The sky at the windward side of a mountain is often cloudy, while that at the leeward side is often clear.
