Two wires are hanging horizontally and parallel to one another and they are spaces 5.4 cm apart. The bottom wire carries a current of 2.3 Amps to the right and has a mass per unit length μ = 2.6 × 10 − 4 k g m. How much current must flow through the upper wire and in which direction (right or left) does the current flow in order to have the bottom wire hover (have the magnetic force balance the gravitational force mg)?

An astronaut in space cannot use a scale or balance to weigh objects because there is no gravity. but she does have devices to measure distance and time accurately. she knows her own mass is 77.4 kg , but she is unsure of the mass of a large gas canister in the airless rocket. when this canister is approaching her at 3.50 m/s , she pushes against it, which slows it down to 1.30 m/s (but does not reverse it) and gives her a speed of 2.60 m/s . what is the mass of the canister?

Calculate the first and second velocities of the car with four washers attached to the pulley, using the formulas v1 = 0.25 m / t1 , and v2 = 0.25 m / (t2 – t1) where t1 and t2 are the average times the car took to reach the 0.25 and the 0.50 meter marks. record these velocities, to two decimal places, in table e.
