A large, 38.0 kg bell is hung from a wooden beam so it can swing back and forth with negligible friction. The bell's center of mass is 0.60 m below the pivot. The bell's moment of inertia about an axis at the pivot is 18.0 kgâ‹…m2. The clapper is a small, 1.8 kg mass attached to one end of a slender rod that has length L and negligible mass. The other end of the rod is attached to the inside of the bell; the rod can swing freely about the same axis as the bell. What should be the length L of the clapper rod for the bell to ring silently-that is, for the period of oscillation for the bell to equal that for the clapper?

Two kilograms of air within a piston–cylinder assembly executes a carnot power cycle with maximum and minimum temperatures of 800 k and 300 k, respectively. the heat transfer to the air during the isothermal expansion is 60 kj. at the end of the isothermal expansion the volume is 0.4 m3. assume the ideal gas model for the air. determine the thermal efficiency, the volume at the beginning of the isothermal expansion, in m3, and the work during the adiabatic expansion, in kj.
