In 1961 the mlar atomic mass of carbon 12 was defined to be exactly 12g/mol (a value agreed upon by chemists and physicists) and the molar atomic masses of all the elements were re-evaluated according to this new standard. this made the re-evaluated molar mass of oxygen-16 become 15.994915g/mol. avogadro's number is defined as the number of atoms in the molar atomic mass of an element. the present accpted value for avogadros' number is 6.0221367x10^23/mol. what was the value o avogadro's number used by physicists before 1961? .

The first notion of the number of molecules per atom was calculated by Josef Loschmidt which he endeavored to complete in 1895. In his experiment, he determined the number of molecules in one cubic centimeter of gas under STP. this is equal to approx 2.6 x 10^19 molecules. The former is called "Loschmidt's Constant" instead.

there are many types of particles: subatomic, elementary etc.

subatomic means they are smaller than atom, elementary means they are at the very basis of everything.

subatomic particles are for eg. protons, neutrons but not electrons.

elementary particles are categorised into 3 groups by what they do.

these 3 groups are quarks, leptons and bosons.

light for example is a particle more precisely a photon a part of leptons.

proton (subatomic particle) is made out of 2 up quarks and 1 down quark each of these has a fractional charge like $\frac{1}{3}$ . (i crazy)
