G A slab of uniform positive electric charge extends infinitely in the yz plane. The charge density is given by (xx, yy, zz) = 0 , − 1 < xx < 1 0, ℎ which is constant between -1 cm and 1 cm in the x direction and zero for all other values of x. a. Sketch the problem and the approximate electric field lines based on the symmetry. b. If the electric field in the x direction outside the slab is xx(xx > 1 ) = 5000 /, find the charge density 0 inside the slab. c. Find the electric field xx(xx) inside the slab. d. Find the electrostatic potential everywhere, given that V(0,0,0)=0 at the origin. Hint: if the electric field is only in the x direction, does V change when we vary y and z while keeping x constant? The line integral simplifies a lot here.
