A community with a population of 200,000 in 2015 had a water plant designed to treat 35mgd. If the water use by the community in 2030 is projected to be 140gpcd, will expanded treatment facilities be needed by 2030 when the population is expected to be 260,000? If so, in about what year would they be needed? What reduction in water use rate would be needed to delay the need for new facilities until 2030? Is a reduction of this magnitude attainable?
