Ajet fighter flying at 300 m/s (just below the speed of sound) makes a turn of radius 2.00 km. (a) what is its centripetal acceleration in gs? (b) suppose the pilot makes an emergency turn to avoid an approaching missile, subjecting himself to a centripetal acceleration of 10 gs, while flying at 530 m/s (supersonic). what is the radius, in km, of his turn? (this must be short-lived because fighter planes can only briefly endure such large accelerations without serious damage, and the pilot will soon black out at 10 gs.)

One day, after pulling down your window shade, you notice that sunlight is passing through a pinhole in the shade and making a small patch of light on the far wall. you see that the patch of light seems to be a circular diffraction pattern. it appears that the central maximum is about 1 cm across and you estimate that the distance from the window shade to the wall is about 3 m. what is (a) the average wavelength of sunlight? (b) the diameter of the pinhole?
