Abrass cylinder has a 2.25" diameter and a wall thickness of 0.080 inch. two rigid end caps are held to the cylinder by six 0.25" diameter steel bolts with a yield strength of 80 ksi. the ends of the bolts are cut with 20 threads/inch (for a pitch of 0.05 inch). each nut is to be "finger-tightened" and then all are turned an additional equal amount to compress the cylinder uniformly. define the number of turns required for each nut, such that the stress in each bolt reaches 80% of its yield strength. (remember: the force in each bolt is 1/6 the force in the cylinder.)
