Scalar and vector quantities are used by the mathematicians, geographers and engineers to relate and represent the physical variables in terms of magnitude and direction. The quantity which has both magnitude and direction is called as vectors.  Scientists in space station also use them for navigation or when they are launching or exploding a material to define its direction which makes easier for them to navigate.
