Two friends, joe and sam, go to the gym together to strength train. they decide to start off with an exercise called flat bench press. lying flat on a bench with their arms in an extended position, they slowly lower (to their chest) and then raise a barbell back to the starting position. they start off by using a 31.5 kg barbell. joe is taller than sam which means joe's arms are 68.6 cm long while sam's are 60.8 cm. calculate the work done by joe, w_joe, when he raises the barbell to finish one repetition. the acceleration due to gravity is 9.81 m/s^2.
remember does the exercise. how does the amount of work sam does, w_sam, lifting the weight the correct operator from the list below.
w_sam = w_joe
w_sam > w_joe
wsam < w_joe

This problem has been solved! see the answera non-uniform fire escape ladder is 6.0m long whenextended to the icy alley below. it is held at the top by africtionless pivot, and there is neglibible frictional force fromthe icy surface at the bottom. the ladder weighs 250n, and it'scenter of gravity is 2.0m along the ladder from the bottom. amother and child of total weight 750n are on the ladder 1.5m fromthe pivot. the ladder makes an angle θ with the horizontal.find the magnitude and direction ofa) the force exerted by the icy alley on the ladderb) the force exerted by the ladder on the pivotc) do your answers in part a and b depend on the angle?

Air is to be preheated by hot exhaust gases in a cross-flow heat exchanger before it enters the furnace. air enters the heat exchanger at 95 kpa and 20°c at a rate of 0.6 m^3/s. the combustion gases (cp = 1.10 kj/kg°c) enter at 160°c at a rate of 0.95 kg/s and leave at 95°c. determine the rate of heat transfer to the air and its outlet temperature.
