The distance covered by the body in a given interval of time is called speed. The displacement of the something in a clear time is called speed.  

Speed decides how quick something is moving? Whereas, velocity figures out what direction something is moving?  

Speed is a scalar quantity- it is the magnitude of velocity. Speed is estimated in units of separation divided by time, e.g. miles every hour, feet every second, meters every second and so on.  

Velocity is a vector quantity – when giving the velocity we should determine the magnitude (the speed) and the direction of movement.  

At the point when the moving body comes back to the beginning stage, average velocity will be zero, but this isn't on account of average speed.
