Mr. Smith has three pets. Percival: 3y M/N GSD, Stubby: 6mo F DSH, and Lucifurr: 8y F/S Chihuahua. Mr. Smith went on a 3 week trip to Louisiana. He brought Percival along with him, but Stubby and Lucifurr stayed home and was attended to by an in-home care provider. Mr. Smith called his DVM office for a recommendation on a pet sitter. They recommended Fluffybutz Pet Service. At some point during the 3 week timeframe, Fluffybutz transported Lucifurr to the DVM for in-hospital treatment with permission of Mr. Smith, as they were having difficulty hand medicating Lucifurr for her thyroid medication. Upon return from his trip, he was informed by Fluffybutz that Stubby hasn’t finished her food for the last 3 days, has been vomiting at least once a day for 3 days, and had diarrhea this morning. Three days after Mr. Smith returned, Lucifurr began coughing to the point of seeming to foam at the mouth. At this time, Percival is showing no signs of illness.

Based on what you know, what may be going on with Stubby? What information within your weekly content can you use to support your analysis? What more information would you need to know or what questions would you ask to come to a more concrete conclusion?

What should Mr. Smith’s DVM team speak to him about in regards to the care and wellbeing of Percival due to his recent travels? What questions would you ask about his past medical history, specifically in regards to issues that may arise from his travel?
