When I was younger, my appendix burst. I was immediately driven to Children's Mercy where a doctor did an MRI. I found that I only had 3 hours to live without surgery. After I woke in the recovery room, ignoring the pain in my 'parts' because of the catheter, I found that they snipped off the area that my appendix grew in. Why did they do this? Bonus question: How does anesthesia work? I've undergone 8 surgeries and I'm still curious at how a simple gas or an IV injection throws you into unconsciousness.
