The word cavity usually refers to a hole of some sort. It is used in various medical settings, like when you're at the dentist and the dentist checks for cavities, or holes in the enamel of your teeth. It can also be used in other contexts, such as referring to the eynal cavity, the part of your intestine that opens to the eynus. In general though, cavity is just referring to a hole of some sort.
