Explanation- Medial means toward the middle. Imagine a line from your head to inbetween your feet that is in the middle of your body, closer to this line is medial.
8. The patient reported shortness of breath, which could be caused by damage to the organs within the thoracic cavity.
Explanation- The thoracic cavity holds the lungs.
9. A wound was found on the patients pelvic region, located 4 inches lateral to the belly button.
Explanation- Lateral is the opposite of medial. Lateral means farther away from the midline. In anatomiccal position it means away from your belly button and closer to your arms.
10. A small contusion was on the patients lower leg, proximal to the ankle.
Explanation- Proximal means close to something. My fingers are proximal to my wrist while my shoulders are not.
11. The wrist is located distally to the ankle but proximal to the elbow.
Explanation- Distal means farther away from.
12. The minor cut on the girl's arm was deemed superficial and did not require stitches.
Explanation- Superficial is close to the surface, ususally referring to closer to the skin.
13. The man had to have a combination of stitches and staples in his arm after he suffered a deep laceration.
Explanation- Deep means farther away from the surface.
14. The unconsious man lay prone on the floor after suffering a heat stroke.
Explanation- Prone is laying face down.
15. After breaking her ankle, the woman lay supine on the floow waiting for help to arrive.
Explanation- Supine means to lay face up on your back.
Explanation:
