Which is greater, 1 5/8 or 1 2/3 how can you be sure?

Lets get these into improper fractions. 

1*8 + 5 = 8+5 = 13

13/8 

1*3 + 2 = 3+2 = 5

5/3

Now divide

13/8 = 1.625
5/3 = 1.6666

1  2/3 is larger 

1 5/8 is greater because if you multiply 8*1+5. It equals 13/8
