In order to put in standard form order the numbers from greatest to least by exponent's

so:

Second part:
a term is either a single number or variable, so we can conclude that (-5x^2) is a single term, so is (-2x^3) and (4x) because there are 3 terms this would be considered a Trinomial. Looking at the answers we can single out A and D because they do not have Trinomial in the answer. Since the standardized form starts with (-2x^3) We can single out B. giving us the answer of C.
