The unemployment rate is one of the indicators of economic performance. When the economy in recession, many people loses their job and the unemployment rate is higher.

On the other hand, when economic growth, there is more job opportunity, as a result, the unemployment rate decreases. A high unemployment rate for a period of time affected both individual and the economy as a whole.  

The high unemployment rate will create many problems such as a loss of income, loss of potential national output, and social cost/social deprivation.
