The equation in point-slope form of the line which passes through (-2, 3) and is parallel to 3x + 2y = 10 is

Method 1:  Copy 3x + 2y = 10 and then replace the constant, 10, with C:

3x + 2y = C           Now let -2 replace x and 3 replace y:  3(-2) + 2(3) = C

Evaluate C:  -6 + 6 = C = 0

Thus, the desired equation is 3x + 2y = 0.

Method 2:  Solve 3x + 2y = 10 for y:  2y = -3x - 10.  Then the slope is m = -3/2.

Use the point-slope formula:

y - 3 = (-3/2)(x-[-2]), or    y - 3 = (-3/2)(x+2)

Show that this is equivalent to 3x + 2y = 0.
