How to solve equations with variables

One step equation:
5x=30. 
You are trying to solve for x, so you would have to find a way to see what x equals. In this case, you need to divide both sides by 5 to find x.
5x/5=30/5
x=6
Two Step Equation:
3x+2=11
First you would need to isolate x in order to be able to solve for it. To do this, you would need to subtract 2 on both sides, canceling it out on one side. 
3x+2-2=11-2
3x=9
Then you would need to divide by 3 to find what x equals. 
3x/3=9/3
x=3
