If you use a calculator, you'll see the answer will be 11.3, with a line above the 3. This is a repeating decimal, but it isn't relevant to the problem. Since the question asked how many batches we could make, round 11.3 to the nearest whole number which is 11. So, you can make 11 batches of brownies with 8 1/2 sticks of butter.
