I don't know if you're supposed to use the area of the big circle to find the area of the little circle but i do know that Area equals pi times the radius squared.
Since you're provided with the radius of the small circle, to find its area just square the radius and multiply it by pi.
A = (pi) x r^2
A = (pi) x 0.5^2
A = (pi) x 0.25
A = 0.7854

I don't know if that's right but I hope it helps..
