If your subtracting mixed fractions and you add the common denominator and still isnt enough what do you do??? Ex)

Okay so if you rewrite the sum and just separate it into bits, the sum is: 10 + 1/3 + 3/3

First do the fractions.

1/3 + 3/3 = 4/3

Next you must simplify 4/3.

1 and 1/3

You get 1 and 1/3 because 4 ÷ 3 = 1 R 1

You put that R 1 over the denominator, and get 1/3.

Then you add it all together.

10 + 1 = 11

11+ 1/3 = 11 1/3
