Write the slope intercept form of the equation for each line

Slope-intercept form is y=mx+b, where m=slope and b=y-intercept. The y-intercept and slope are needed to graph the equation in non-function form.

When you graph a linear equation in slope-intercept form, you always want to start with “b” (the y-intercept) because it’s the starting point. Then you want to count how many units the line rises (+/-) compared to how many units the line runs (Left/Right). Therefore “m” (the slope) is the ratio of change in the y-values to the x-values: rise/run.

So, we can see that the line intercepts the y-axis at (0, 2). Therefore b=2. Now the slope rises 1 unit and runs 1 unit. Therefore m=1/1=1.

We know can plug in the values b=2 and m=1 to the slope-intercept form:

y=1x+2 OR y=x+2. Note: y=1x+2 = y=x+2, so whatever one your teacher prefers.

Therefore, your answer is y=x+2 or y=1x+2
