The types of triangles has two categories, but they are: equilateral, isosceles, scalene, right angled, acute angled and obtuse angled triangle.

Triangles are plane shapes which has three straight sides, with the sum of their internal angles to be . They are majorly classified with respect to either their length of sides, or the size of their internal angles.

1. Classification with respect to their length of sides: In this regard, the types of triangles are:

i. Equilateral triangle: This implies a triangle with equal length of sides.

ii. Isosceles triangle: This triangle has two of its side with equal length.

iii. Scalene triangle: In this triangle, non of its sides has equal length.

2. Classification with respect to the size of their internal angles: The types of triangles are:

i. Acute angled triangle: This triangle has all its angles less than .

ii. Right angled triangle: This has one of its angles to be a right angle.

iii. Obtuse angled triangle: This triangle has one of its internal angles to be greater than .

Therefore, there are generally six types of triangles.
