Now, let's consider 7 x 10^3:
Following the same procedure:
7 x 10^3 = 7 x 10 x 10 x 10 = 7000
The pattern can be written as:
7 x 10^3 = 7 x 10 x 10^2 
              = 70 x 10^2
              = 70 x 10 x 10^1
              = 700 x 10
              = 7000
