Can you teach me equivalent fractions fractions with common deniminators? i am seriously in deep trouble here

Say that I have cake. I split it into 2 halves 2 halves would be 1/2 and 2 1/2 equals one whole

For example you have 6/8 =3/4

To find that equvialent fraction you would have to find the greatest common factor so a number that can be divided to both 6 and 8 to make the numerator and denominator easier to work with.

6 has factorof 1,2,3,6
8 has factors of1,2,4,8.

So the greatest one in both is 2

Then divide 6 by 2=3 and 8 by 2= 4 

the fraction becomes  3/4
