b) So you have: 36/100 = B/450  (written as a fraction right now) and you need to find B (butterflies). To do that cross multiply and you'll get (36)×(450) = (100)×B

Then you have to isolate B, and to do that divide both sides of the equation by (100) like this:

[(36)×(450)]÷(100) = (100)×B÷(100) 

The ÷ (100) on the side with B will cancel out the ×(100) (cuz multiplication is the opposite of division, and division is the opposite of multiplication) so then you just have: [(36)×(450)]÷(100) = B

Now do all the math: (36)×(450) = 16200
16200 ÷ 100 = 162
And if [(36)×(450)]÷(100) = B, then 162 = B. Therefore, there are 162 butterflies.

50 % is the answer !
