The local department store suffered heavy damage when a storm struck. The store had to close for four months (September through December). The store is now in a dispute with its insurance carrier about the dollar value of lost sales during the closure. There are two key issues:
The amount of sales that would have occurred if the storm had not happened.
The amount of compensation adjustment that needs to be made due to excess sales due to increased business activity after the storm. In other words, did people rush to buy more goods the four months after the storm took place?

You do not have to actually perform the calculations. What analyses would you use perform to answer the following:
An estimate of sales lost for our department store had there been no storm.
An estimate of countywide department store sales had there been no storm.
Based on results from (1) and (2) above, a case for or against excess storm-related sales.
Please structure answer utilizing problem identification, interpretation, identification of alternatives, analysis & evaluation.

Arrange the steps to solve this system of linear equations in the correct sequence. x + y = -2 2x โ€“ 3y = -9 tiles subtract 3x + 3y = -6 (obtained in step 1) from 2x โ€“ 3y = -9 (given) to solve for x. substitute the value of x in the first equation (x + y = -2) to get y = 1. the solution for the system of equations is (-3, 1). x = -15 the solution for the system of equations is (-15, 13). add 3x + 3y = -6 (obtained in step 1) to 2x โ€“ 3y = -9 (given), and solve for x. x = -3 substitute the value of x in the first equation (x + y = -2) to get y = 13. multiply the first equation by 3: 3(x + y) = 3(-2) 3x + 3y = -6.
