Random tip for math nerds like me :) Only read if you are math nerd A few years ago I learned a way to square really large numbers ( ex.99 x 99) in a matter of seconds and I was able to impress all my friends with it EVEN THOUGH I'm only in 7th grade. Heres how to do it: say you wanted to find out 99 x 99. You would first subtract one of the numbers from 100. 100 - 99 = 1. In this case, the answer is 1. So, we do 99-1=98. Then, we multiply the 2 numbers we just got. 98 x 100 = 9800. Then, since we added and subtracted 1 earlier, we multiply that by itself. 1 x 1 = 1. Then we add that to our previous answer (9800.) 9800 + 1 = 9801! Therefore, 99 x 99 = 9801. Try this with a calculator, it will be 9801! We could also do this with say for example 98 x 98. 100 - 98 = 2 98 - 2 = 96 96 x 100 = 9600 2 x 2 = 4 9600 + 4 = 9604 so 98 x 98 = 9604! This seems like a lot but once you learn it it's super easy to do it in your head and make you sound like einstien! Good luck with this! Try this out by yourself with the numbers 97,96,95 etc and see if you can do it without the calculator!
